TUTORIAL ON MAKING PRESETS

This is the written version of the previous post. I use the same screenshots here as I used in my video.

As stated before: making a custom animation is very time consuming. All you can do to make the job easier, is great....

So let's start:

What you need:

  • A rig to work with ( used Nanashi, which comes in different versions. I will put the link in the end below.
  • Blender 2.76 (Blender has many versions, you need this one to work with S4S)
  • your patience
  • this tutorial ;-)

1.
Download the programs you need and install them. I assume you can already do this, but if you want to plunge in the deep, do the 1st step.

2.
Open Blender 2.76

3.
Open the rigfile

4. (the acual work starts here)
Be sure to be on point 0 on the timeline.

5.
Make the hand or the facial expression pose

6.
Click one joint f.e. the wrist and hit B

Drag a square (box it) around the joints you altered

 7.
To the right were it says pose library, push the + icon.
you get 'add new'.

8.
click. You get pose in the list. As this is not a very descriptive title, change it by double clicking and then give it a name of your own. Press Enter.

9.
If you have made another (hand)pose and you want your own preset back, box the hand and press the magnifying glass and select the pose you want.

And that's all.

VERY IMPORTANT - VERY IMPORTANT - VERY IMPORTANT

Don't forget to SAVE your personalized rig file.

the links:

MINI TUTORIAL

HOW TO MAKE PRESETS IN BLENDER

When trying to learn something about pose making or even making a custom animation, you will find that there are very few tutorials online. Also on YouTube there is not much to be found.

The tutorials on Sims 4 Studio (S4S) cover the basics and they do that just fine. The more advanced stuff isn't there yet.

So I made this mini tutorial.

Presets are very handy when you make a custom animation. Animating is a time consuming task. Everything that can help to reduce the work is just fine.

So I figured out how you can make your own preset. The rig used is the Nanashi (comes in several versions) and the creator made presets that come with the rig. But yeah...... if you want your own stuff?

Just watch my video on YouTube. It is not difficult to do.

you can also watch my next post.

There I will post the screenshots and explain in writing how to do this.
